  • FBS Fasting Blood Glucose

Fasting is required for 6-8 hours to complete the burning of sugar

 

  • Post prandial sugar ( 2 hr. pp )

It is necessary to calculate the two hours from the beginning of the food because of start the secretion of insulin at the beginning of eating and requires the completion of eating within 10 minutes at most and if the patient takes a treatment of sugar is he must take it - unless there is special instructions from doctor, can drink water only during the two hours

 

  • Sugar curve

On the day of the analysis, the patient should be in the morning to the laboratory fasting for 6-8 hours while abstaining from smoking during the analysis while taking the glucose dose (1.75 grams per 1 kg weight, maximum 75 grams) , Blood samples are drawn every half hour for two hours

 

  • Blood sugar curve for pregnant women

Fasting for 6-8 hours and the patient is given 100 grams of glucose and the blood sample is withdrawn every hour for 3 hours

  • Double & Triple test

the patient's date of birth - age - weight - the first day of the last menstrual period -  smoking or not - history of diabetes – suffering  from high blood pressure or not - was there a previous pregnancy and what was the outcome of this pregnancy - report pregnancy weeks  through the sonar and the of fetus number .

 

  • PT & PTT

Does the patient take the medicine, such as (Marivan - heparin - Vitamin K) and what is the dose? And when treatment is started?

 Whether the treatment will be stopped at any time? Are taking any other treatment with medication (aspirin - antirheumatic drugs)?

Do you happen any bleeding from the gums or under the skin or nose?

In children what is the cause analysis (before operations or on bleeding)?

 

  • G6PD

the analysis is not to be conducted for 3 months. after blood transfusion or crises

 

  • Iron TIBC

Fasting is preferred from 6-12 hours and before the start of any new treatment.

 

  • Stool analysis

• The sample arrives at the laboratory within two hours at maximum

• Not in pampers or absorbent materials for liquids or non-clean containers - Avoid mineral oils, bismuth, magnesium.

• Wait 1 week after barium or laxative taken.

 

  • Stool Culture

The sample will arrive within two hours at maximum

Prevention of the antibiotic for 48 hours.

  • Urine Culture

1- Wash hand and genitalia with soap and water and disinfect the urine incontinence (Ditol) and then wash again with water to remove the excess cleanser

 2 - emptying the first part of the urine in the water cycle and collect the rest in the sterile container provided by the laboratory

3. Refrain from taking antibiotics for 48 hours

4 - prefer the morning sample

 

  • 24-Hour Urine Collection  

The patient empties the accumulated urine in a bladder in the toilet and register the time and then complete collecting in suitable clean and dry bottle sufficient for the assembly then continue assembling the urine to the same time of registration at the beginning of the next day . Preserve the urine in the refrigerator until sending it to the lab.

 

  • Pregnancy Test in urine

Preferably the first urine in the morning where the hormone pregnancy is more concentrated - while reducing the intake of fluids the evening before the analysis - so as not to hide the concentration of the hormone if the result is negative we suggest a pregnancy test by blood because this test is more sensitive

 

  • 3 Day  urine

This analysis to detect the TB infection in 3 samples because the Acid-fast bacilli (bacteria Of TB) can be shown in a sample and not shown in another sample

 

  • 3 Day Sputum

 Please collect the first-morning sputum, after gargling with water several times and before eating. Saliva samples are not accepted. Samples should be delivered separately on the same day. You may want to use steam inhalation in the morning to facilitate sample collection.

 

  • Semen Analysis

It is necessary to abstain from sexual intercourse or masturbation for 3-5 consecutive days in order not to be affected by the quantity

It is preferable to give the sample in the laboratory with attention to the status of the first points of semen because these points by 3/4 the number of sperm

Do not use cream or soap or gel because it will affect the movement of sperm

In case the sample obtained in the house does not have to pass it more than 20 minutes

 

  • prostate

The analysis is performed at an earlier date and requires abstinence from intercourse or masturbation for 3-5 days before the analysis and taking a urine sample before massage the prostate and another urine sample after massage the prostate to differentiate whether the pus from the penis or prostate or from the urine. The sample is examined in the branch before being sent to the main laboratory in search of Trichomonas.

 

  • Swab of the penis

The urine is kept for an hour before the test until the urethra is completely dry to make sure that the microbe is present from the penis and not from the urine

 

  • Vaginal smear

Patient should have an appointment.

Required not to have intercourse for two days until we are sure that the microbe took his chance for growth and antibiotic should be stopped for 48 hours.

 

  • Blood (occult blood in stool)

abstain patient for 48 hours from eating all kinds of red meat or liver or rheumatic drugs or medicines containing aspirin or vitamin C, or cortisone or iron are also it is not allowed to take laxatives.

 

  • PSA Test

 Patient needs to refrain from undergoing any form of endoscopy or catheterization procedures for 10 days prior to the test.

 

  • Epilepsy Drugs and Asthma Medication

  • take medication for 5 days on a regular basis and to achieve a constant level in blood.
  • vomiting or diarrhea is not accepted for 48 hours prior to the analysis because it will affect the dose and therefore the level of the drug in blood.
  • sample taken before dose is used to calculate the proportion of the drug at the lowest level (Trough) and then taken another sample after taking medication several hours (varies from drug to another as doctor guidance) to calculate the highest percentage of the drug in the blood (Peak)
